Cryptocurrencies posted broad-based gains in today's trading, driven by Bitcoin surging to its highest level in roughly two weeks. This signals a renewed risk appetite as the year draws to a close, despite persistent market pressures since the last quarter.

According to real-time index data, Bitcoin rose to $89,599, gaining $1,771 or 2.02%. Ethereum climbed 2.38% to $3,018.61, while Solana advanced 2.16% to $127.90. Other major altcoins also showed positive momentum: Ripple (XRP) rose 1.94% to $1.90, Cardano gained 1.96% to $0.3758, and Binance Coin (BNB) edged up 0.13% to trade near $860.2.

Analysts noted that the rally is partly due to increased short-term retail trading and expanded open interest in Bitcoin futures, reflected in the funding rate reaching its highest since October 18, indicating rising demand for long positions.

Data also showed a recovery in open interest for Bitcoin futures from recent lows, although it remains well below the peaks seen during October's bull run, suggesting the market is still in a gradual recovery phase.

Despite the current rebound, Bitcoin is still on track for an annual loss of nearly 4% in 2025, even as institutional adoption grows and some regulatory and political gains are made under a more crypto-friendly U.S. administration.

Meanwhile, the broader crypto market continues its cautious recovery after several weeks of selloffs since October, following the liquidation of leveraged positions worth about $19 billion, which put significant pressure on prices and liquidity.

The recent performance reflects a balance between short-term optimism and structural caution, as investors watch to see whether this rebound marks the start of a year-end rally or merely a temporary correction in a volatile market.
