UAE airlines have started to gradually resume operations following the partial reopening of regional airspace. Etihad Airways and Emirates Airline both announced limited flight schedules in the coming days to facilitate a phased return of travel while maintaining the highest operational safety standards.
Etihad Airways resumed a restricted schedule of commercial flights from 6 March 2026, operating between Abu Dhabi and key international destinations after comprehensive safety and security assessments in coordination with authorities. The airline stated that these flights would continue on a limited basis until further notice, with each operation subject to ongoing reviews of operational and security conditions in the region's airspace.
Between 6 and 19 March, Etihad will fly to major global cities such as London, Paris, New York, Frankfurt, Madrid, Rome, Milan, Zurich, Toronto, as well as Asian destinations including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Hanoi, Phuket, and key cities in the Middle East and South Asia like Cairo, Riyadh, Jeddah, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore. Passengers with existing bookings will be accommodated as soon as possible, and tickets are now available on the airline's website. Etihad advises travelers to go to Abu Dhabi Airport only if they have received direct communication or hold a confirmed booking on a rescheduled flight. All announced flights remain subject to operational approvals and may change according to developments in regional airspace, while other scheduled flights to and from Abu Dhabi remain suspended.
Similarly, Emirates Airline announced the operation of over 100 flights to and from Dubai on 5 and 6 March under a limited schedule, following the partial reopening of some regional airspace, enabling a safe resumption of commercial aviation. An Emirates spokesperson said these flights aim to repatriate stranded passengers and support air cargo, including perishable goods and pharmaceuticals. Emirates will gradually rebuild its flight schedule in the coming days, depending on airspace availability and meeting all safety requirements. The airline emphasized that operational safety remains its top priority, with continuous monitoring of regional airspace developments and operational adjustments as needed. Passengers are urged to visit the airport only with a confirmed booking and to monitor the airline's official website and social media for updates.
The gradual resumption of flights in the UAE comes amid ongoing operational assessments of regional airspace, with airlines coordinating closely with authorities to ensure a safe and organized return of passenger and cargo services.
EcoPulse24 Analysis:
The operational steps by UAE carriers reflect a measured return of air travel in the region after a period of airspace disruptions. The adoption of limited schedules and phased destination reopenings demonstrates a cautious approach aimed at restoring operational confidence and stabilizing travel and cargo flows. Airlines' focus on transporting essential goods and medical supplies highlights the aviation sector's critical role in maintaining regional supply chains during times of geopolitical tension. The continuation of these phased operations will largely depend on the stability of regional airspace and the carriers’ ability to manage associated operational risks.
