IBM's Commitment to Youth Training

IBM has committed to training five million young learners in India in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and quantum computing by 2030. This initiative aims to support job market readiness and build a more efficient and equitable digital workforce.

According to a company statement, the initiative will be implemented through the "IBM SkillsBuild" program, focusing on expanding access to advanced digital skills and enhancing employability for students and adult learners, aligning with IBM's long-term strategy for developing human capital.

Expanding Technical Education

Through this initiative, IBM seeks to expand the teaching of emerging technologies within schools, universities, and vocational training systems while enhancing partnerships with Indian educational institutions, including the Indian Technical Education Council, to support applied educational pathways in AI and empower educators.

Long-Term Vision

Arvind Krishna, IBM's Chairman and CEO, stated that India possesses a unique blend of talent and ambition, positioning it to lead the world in AI and quantum computing. He emphasized that broad access to advanced skills will play a crucial role in enhancing economic competitiveness and societal transformation.

Supporting Early Education

IBM continues to support school education by participating in the development of AI curricula for high school students, providing educational resources, project guides, and simplified units to explain responsible AI concepts, thereby fostering computational thinking skills at early stages.

Global Digital Training Platform

The "IBM SkillsBuild" program is one of the most accessible technical learning platforms globally, offering over a thousand courses in AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, cloud computing, data analytics, sustainability, and job market readiness. With over 16 million learners worldwide, the program is essential to IBM's goal of training 30 million people globally by 2030, with India being a key pillar in achieving this target.
