New Collaboration Between the Public Investment Fund, SITE, and Microsoft to Enhance Sovereign Cloud Solutions in Saudi Arabia
PIF, SITE, and Microsoft signed an MoU to boost sovereign cloud, AI, and data security solutions in Saudi Arabia, pending regulatory approval.
According to AlArabiya Business,The Saudi Public Investment Fund, the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE), and Microsoft announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at boosting the use of Microsoft services in the field of sovereign cloud computing in the kingdom. This collaboration contributes to enhancing the security and confidentiality of national data and enables access to the latest cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies.
Microsoft has extensive experience in providing sovereign cloud computing solutions, helping governments and vital sectors leverage these solutions according to the security regulations applicable in each country or region.
Under the memorandum of understanding, Microsoft will work with the Public Investment Fund and SITE to explore ways to benefit from sovereign cloud solutions to support compliance, protect, and localize data in Saudi Arabia, while providing access to advanced cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies. The memorandum also aims to enhance cooperation in research, development, joint innovation, and knowledge transfer.
The Public Investment Fund's strategy in the telecommunications and information technology sector seeks to enhance the kingdom's global competitiveness by fostering innovation, building capacities, and supporting local economic development and diversification efforts.
The non-binding memorandum of understanding signed today is subject to the fulfillment of a set of requirements, including obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals.
