Oil Prices Decline Amid Peace Negotiations

Oil prices sharply declined this morning following reports that Ukraine has agreed to a peace deal with the United States. Brent crude fell by 1.23% to $62.55 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate dropped 1.34% to $58.05 per barrel, slipping below the $60 mark for the first time in a while. Traders anticipate that the peace agreement may lead to a relaxation of sanctions on Russian energy exports, which could increase the surplus in a market already suffering from oversupply. JPMorgan forecasts that Brent crude could decline to $30 by 2027 due to oversupply, while Goldman Sachs expects an average of $53 for WTI in 2026.
