US Stock Market Wrap: Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Close Lower After Volatile Week
Nasdaq fell 0.2% for its worst week since April; S&P 500 and Dow edged up but ended the week lower amid tech volatility and shutdown worries.
Accourding to Yahoo finance report, The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) dropped 0.2%, while the S&P 500 (^GSPC) edged up 0.1% to finish the session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) also saw a 0.1% increase.
Stocks recovered some losses after Democrats proposed conditions to resolve the government shutdown, including a one-year extension of expiring health care subsidies, which Republicans rejected.
This week ended with the Nasdaq suffering its steepest decline since April, amid fluctuations in shares of major companies like Nvidia (NVDA) and Tesla (TSLA). Both the S&P 500 and the Dow closed the week in negative territory, reflecting ongoing concerns about an AI bubble and elevated valuations in Big Tech.
