Wall Street: Indices Gain for the Third Day
The Dow Jones rose by 664 points, and tech stocks recover.
Bloomberg reported that the main U.S. indices finished trading on Tuesday up for the third consecutive session, with the Dow Jones jumping by 664 points or 1.43% to close at 47,112 points. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 rose by 0.91% to 6,766 points, and the Nasdaq increased by 0.67% to 23,026 points. The gains followed weak U.S. economic data that bolstered bets for a rate cut in December, with the odds now at 83% according to the CME FedWatch tool. Alphabet's shares led the gains after the positive reception of the AI model Gemini 3, while Nvidia's shares fell more than 4% following reports that Meta is considering using Google’s TPU chips instead of Nvidia's graphics processors. Despite the gains, all three indices are still on track to record monthly losses, with the S&P 500 down about 1% and the Nasdaq down 3% during November.
