DHL to pour €130 million ($150 million) into massive new logistics hub in Riyadh
Deutsche Post DHL Group has announced it will invest €130 million (around $150 million) to build a state-of-the-art logistics
According to Bloomberg, Deutsche Post DHL Group has announced it will invest €130 million (around $150 million) to build a state-of-the-art logistics and warehousing center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The German logistics giant is betting big on the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to turn itself into the Middle East’s premier trade and transport gateway.
The new hub, expected to open in phases starting 2026, will become DHL’s largest facility in the region and will include advanced sorting centers, cold-chain storage, e-commerce fulfillment zones, and direct air-side access at King Khalid International Airport. The company says the investment will create hundreds of direct jobs and support the explosive growth of Saudi e-commerce and cross-border trade.
The move comes as Saudi Arabia pours billions into new airports, ports, and rail links under its National Transport and Logistics Strategy, aiming to handle 40 million tons of cargo annually by 2030 and climb into the world’s top-10 logistics performers.
DHL’s CEO for the Middle East and Africa called Riyadh “the future logistics heart of the region,” adding that the Kingdom’s reforms, young population, and central geographic position make it the perfect springboard for connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.
