Emirates has officially launched Crypto.com Pay™ as a payment option for flight bookings, allowing eligible customers in the UAE to purchase tickets through the airline's website and mobile app using the digital payment platform.
The rollout marks the implementation of a partnership announced in July 2025, when Emirates and Crypto.com signed a memorandum of understanding to integrate Crypto.com Pay™ into the airline's digital payment ecosystem.
Customers holding a Crypto.com account can now select Crypto.com Pay™ at checkout when booking through emirates.com or the Emirates App, with transactions processed securely and in accordance with UAE regulatory standards. The payment option is currently available to eligible UAE residents for bookings priced and settled in UAE dirhams (AED).
Expanding Digital Payment Choice
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the launch reflects the airline's commitment to expanding customer payment options while adapting to changing consumer behavior.
He noted that an increasing number of digitally connected travelers manage their finances and travel plans through smartphones and expect airlines to provide modern payment experiences.
Kazim added that moving from the signing of the partnership to its commercial launch in less than a year highlights both companies' execution capabilities and the UAE's supportive regulatory environment for financial innovation.
Eric Anziani, President and Chief Operating Officer of Crypto.com, described the partnership as a milestone for the company's payment platform, saying it demonstrates the UAE's forward-looking approach to innovation while supporting Emirates' continued expansion of digital payment capabilities.
How the Payment Process Works
Customers booking through the Emirates App are redirected to the Crypto.com application to authorize payment from their digital wallet before returning automatically to the Emirates app to receive their booking confirmation and electronic ticket.
Desktop users booking through emirates.com select Crypto.com Pay™ during checkout, scan the QR code displayed on the payment page using the Crypto.com app, approve the transaction, and immediately receive their booking confirmation and e-ticket.
Built on UAE-Regulated Infrastructure
The integration is powered by Crypto.com's Dubai entity, which became the first Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) to receive a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) licence from the Central Bank of the UAE and operates under the country's SVF regulatory framework.
Supporting Dubai's Cashless Vision
The launch supports the Dubai Cashless Strategy under the D33 Economic Agenda, which aims for 90% of financial transactions across both the public and private sectors to become digital by the end of 2026.
It also builds on Emirates' previous partnership with Dubai Finance to advance digital payments, while complementing Crypto.com's own collaboration with Dubai Finance to enable digital payments for government services.
EcoPulse24 View
The introduction of Crypto.com Pay marks another step in the mainstream adoption of regulated digital payment solutions within the aviation sector. Beyond adding another payment option, the initiative reinforces Dubai's ambition to position itself as a global hub for fintech and digital assets by integrating licensed virtual asset infrastructure into everyday consumer services. As regulated digital payment networks continue to expand, airlines may increasingly view cryptocurrency-enabled payment platforms as part of their broader digital commerce strategy.
