PIF named official supporter of FIFA World Cup 2026 across North America and Asia
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has signed a new partnership with FIFA to become an Official Tournament Supporter of the FIFA World Cup 2026 across North America and Asia, expanding the kingdom’s growing presence within the global sports economy ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2034.
The agreement builds on the existing partnership between PIF and FIFA during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 and incorporates PIF-owned companies including Savvy Games Group and Qiddiya City as part of fan engagement and entertainment initiatives during the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest edition in the tournament’s history, featuring 48 national teams across three host countries, offering global commercial exposure across sports, entertainment and digital audiences.
FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai said the partnership with PIF would support football development globally by expanding opportunities for youth participation, innovation and grassroots initiatives.
Mohamed AlSayyad, Head of Corporate Brand at PIF, said football remains central to the fund’s expanding global sports strategy, adding that the agreement builds on previous collaborations with FIFA and Concacaf to create long-term impact across the football ecosystem.
The partnership comes as Saudi Arabia accelerates investment into sports, tourism and entertainment sectors under Vision 2030 while preparing to host the FIFA World Cup 2034.
The agreement also includes initiatives tied to knowledge transfer and capacity-building for Saudi youth in areas linked to sports management, infrastructure and football development.

EcoPulse24 Analysis
The significance of this partnership extends far beyond sports sponsorship. Saudi Arabia is increasingly using football and global entertainment platforms as strategic instruments tied to economic diversification, tourism expansion and international brand positioning.
What makes this agreement particularly important is the integration of multiple PIF ecosystem assets - including gaming, entertainment and sports infrastructure - into a unified global platform linked to one of the world’s largest sporting events.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 offers Saudi Arabia an opportunity to deepen global audience engagement before hosting the FIFA World Cup 2034, while simultaneously expanding the commercial reach of projects such as Qiddiya and Savvy Games Group.
At a macro level, the partnership reflects the rapid rise of the “sports economy” as a strategic investment sector for sovereign wealth funds worldwide. Major sporting events are increasingly intersecting with tourism, gaming, digital engagement, infrastructure and soft-power positioning.
For PIF, football has become a long-duration strategic asset capable of generating economic activity across multiple sectors rather than a standalone sponsorship category.
The agreement also reinforces Saudi Arabia’s broader ambition to position itself as a global hub for sports, entertainment and large-scale international events as part of the kingdom’s transition toward a more diversified non-oil economy.
