OPEC+ Provisionally Agrees 188,000 bpd Output Increase for June in First Move Since UAE Exit
OPEC+ plans a symbolic 188,000 bpd output hike for June, its first move since UAE's exit, amid export limits due to regional conflict.

Seven major OPEC+ nations led by Saudi Arabia and Russia have provisionally agreed to raise their collective output target by 188,000 barrels per day in June, according to a delegate with knowledge of the talks, in what would mark the group's first coordinated move since the UAE's surprise departure from the organization.
The agreement, described as provisional, is set to be finalized at a video conference on Sunday. The delegate requested anonymity as the discussions remain private.

The increase mirrors the pattern established in recent months and is described as largely symbolic in practical terms. With the Strait of Hormuz still blocked as a result of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, OPEC+ member states in the Persian Gulf remain unable to export through their primary shipping route, rendering any paper increase in output targets difficult to implement in the near term.
The group is formally continuing the process of restoring output that had been curtailed several years ago, a process that was already underway before the outbreak of war in the region.
The June decision comes as OPEC+ adjusts to a significant structural change: the UAE formally quit the organization on April 28, 2026, after years of frustration over constraints on its production capacity. The departure of one of the group's most significant producers has reshaped the dynamics of the alliance, and the June provisional agreement represents the first collective output decision taken without UAE participation.
Three separate delegates had indicated last week that such a move was their expectation, according to Bloomberg.
Note: This report is based on a single anonymous delegate. The agreement is provisional and subject to finalization at Sunday's video conference.
