Alphabet Inc. reported record second-quarter financial results, driven by continued strength across Google Search, YouTube, Google Services and a sharp acceleration in Google Cloud, while a substantial unrealized gain on equity investments significantly boosted reported net income.
For the quarter ended June 30, Alphabet generated $119.8 billion in consolidated revenue, up 24% year over year, or 23% in constant currency, marking the company's 12th consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth. Operating income increased 30% to $40.8 billion, while the operating margin expanded to 34% from 32% a year earlier.
Net income available to common stockholders rose 298% to $112.1 billion, while diluted earnings per share increased 294% to $9.11. However, the company said other income included a $98.0 billion net gain, primarily reflecting unrealized gains on equity securities.
Google Cloud Delivers the Fastest Growth
Google Cloud remained Alphabet's fastest-growing major business.
Revenue climbed 82% to $24.8 billion, driven by continued expansion of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) across enterprise AI infrastructure, enterprise AI solutions and core cloud services.
Operating income in Google Cloud increased to $8.8 billion, compared with $2.8 billion in the same quarter last year, reflecting significant operating leverage as enterprise AI demand accelerated.
Google Services Continue to Expand
Google Services generated $94.5 billion in revenue, up 15% from a year earlier.
Growth was supported by:
-
Google Search & other: $63.3 billion, up 17%
-
YouTube advertising: $11.1 billion, up 13%
-
Google subscriptions, platforms and devices: $12.9 billion, up 15%
Google Network revenue was broadly stable at $7.3 billion.
Google Services operating income increased to $39.5 billion, from $33.1 billion a year earlier.
AI Expansion Continues Across Alphabet
Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai said Alphabet's investments in artificial intelligence continue to reshape every part of the business.
The company said:
-
Nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies now use Gemini Enterprise.
-
Gemini models process approximately 22 billion API tokens per minute.
-
The Gemini App reached 950 million monthly active users.
-
The newly introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber strengthens Google's cybersecurity offerings with highly cost-efficient AI performance.
-
More than 1.7 billion unique viewers watched FIFA World Cup 2026-related videos on YouTube.
Pichai said growing adoption of AI features is also driving higher Search query volumes while increasing enterprise demand for Google's AI infrastructure and cloud offerings.
Investment Gains Significantly Increased Reported Profit
Alphabet reported $98.0 billion in other income during the quarter, primarily resulting from unrealized gains on equity securities.
The detailed financial reconciliation showed that gains on equity securities totaled approximately $99.0 billion, increasing:
-
Income tax expense by $21.9 billion,
-
Net income by $77.1 billion,
-
Diluted earnings per share by $6.26.
Without these investment gains, reported net income would have been substantially lower despite the company's strong operating performance.
Capital Raising to Expand AI Infrastructure
Alphabet strengthened its balance sheet during the quarter to support continued AI investment.
The company raised $49.6 billion through a combination of Class A shares, Class C shares and mandatory convertible preferred stock.
The proceeds will primarily fund capital expenditures supporting AI infrastructure and global computing capacity.
Alphabet also established an at-the-market (ATM) equity program allowing it to issue up to $40 billion of additional Class A and Class C shares over time. No shares had been sold under the program as of June 30.
Separately, Alphabet issued $20.3 billion of senior unsecured notes for general corporate purposes.
Balance Sheet and Cash Position
At June 30, Alphabet reported:
-
Cash and cash equivalents: $55.9 billion
-
Marketable securities: $186.6 billion
-
Total cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities: $242.5 billion
Total assets increased to $922.0 billion, while shareholders' equity rose to $640.5 billion.
Operating cash flow during the quarter totaled $39.1 billion.
Capital expenditures reached $44.9 billion, resulting in quarterly free cash flow of negative $5.9 billion, reflecting Alphabet's aggressive investment in infrastructure.
Dividend
Alphabet's Board of Directors declared:
-
A quarterly dividend of $0.22 per Class A, Class B and Class C share, payable on September 14, 2026, to shareholders of record on September 7, 2026.
The company also declared dividends on its mandatory convertible preferred shares.
EcoPulse24 Analysis
Alphabet delivered one of its strongest operating quarters in recent years. Revenue growth accelerated to 24%, Google Cloud nearly doubled its revenue, and AI adoption continued expanding across both consumer and enterprise products.
However, investors should distinguish between Alphabet's operating performance and its reported net profit. While the underlying business generated robust growth across Search, Cloud and YouTube, the extraordinary jump in net income was heavily influenced by unrealized gains on equity investments rather than operating activities alone.
The results nevertheless reinforce Alphabet's strategy of aggressively investing in AI infrastructure, enterprise cloud services and Gemini, while using its exceptionally strong balance sheet to finance another phase of global AI expansion.
