According to Reuters, the negotiations between the United Arab Emirates and the European Union regarding the free trade agreement are making notable progress, as stated by Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State, during a press conference held in Abu Dhabi with the presence of a European Commissioner.

The negotiations were launched earlier this year and cover a wide range of topics related to the trade of goods and services, investment, as well as enhancing partnerships in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, and critical raw materials essential for Europe's industrial transformation.

The UAE is hosting this week the fourth round of discussions, while the fifth round is scheduled for early next year, according to Nusseibeh, who confirmed that the talks are "positive and fruitful" and reflect a mutual desire to expedite reaching a comprehensive agreement.

The European Union is the UAE's second-largest trading partner, accounting for approximately 8.3% of the country's total non-oil trade. The UAE is also the largest destination for European exports and the EU's most important investment partner in the Middle East and North Africa region, as reported by the Emirates News Agency.
