Housing and Transport Costs Drive Slight Acceleration in Jordan’s Inflation by Year-End
Jordan's inflation rose to 1.31% in Dec 2025, driven by housing and transport costs, while food prices fell, partly offsetting the increase.

Jordan's annual inflation rate reached 1.31% in December 2025, up from 1.28% in November - the lowest level in 13 months - according to official data. This slight acceleration was driven by faster increases in housing, transport, health, and culture and entertainment costs, which restored some momentum to the overall index after a period of moderation.
Conversely, price growth slowed for clothing and footwear and communications, while furniture and household equipment prices remained unchanged after a previous rise. Meanwhile, food and non-alcoholic beverages continued their downward trend, mitigating some of the upward pressure from other categories.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.68% in December after a 0.31% decrease in November, marking the fastest monthly increase since June 2022.
Analysis
The acceleration in inflation reflects a mixed picture for Jordan’s price structure, with essential living costs - particularly housing and transport - driving the overall trend. The near-term outlook will depend on whether declining categories can continue to offset pressures from services and other rising components.
