According to data from TradingEconomics, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Australia held steady at 4.3% in November 2025, unchanged from October and lower than expectations of an increase to 4.4%.

The number of unemployed individuals decreased by 2,100 people to 662,300, the lowest level in three months, compared to 664,400 in October. The number of part-time job seekers fell by 7,600 people to 216,000, while the number of full-time job seekers increased by 5,500 people to 446,300.

In contrast, there was a negative surprise in employment data; the total number of employed individuals decreased by 21,300 jobs to 14.66 million, against expectations of a 20,000 job increase, following a downward revision of October's numbers (only a 41,200 job increase).

The data reveals a sharp decline in full-time employment by 56,500 jobs to 10.08 million, while part-time employment rose by 35,200 jobs to 4.58 million.

The labor force participation rate also decreased to 66.7% from 66.9% in October, below expectations of 67.0%, marking the lowest level in eight months. The underemployment rate rose from 5.7% to 6.2%. Additionally, total monthly hours worked fell by 1 million hours to 1,996 million hours.
