Abu Dhabi launched an Advanced Technology Center at Davos, joining the WEF network to boost its global role in advanced tech and innovation.

The Technology Innovation Institute, the applied research arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, has announced the inauguration of the 'Abu Dhabi Advanced Technology Center.' The center joins the global network focused on Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and was launched during the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos in 2026.
The center’s inauguration, marked by an official signing ceremony, reflects deepening international cooperation in advanced technologies and enhances Abu Dhabi’s position as a global platform for developing and deploying transformative technologies. The center aims to lead advanced R&D, contribute to global policy on emerging technologies, and translate innovation into scalable, practical applications.
Leveraging the UAE’s flexible regulatory environment and effective integration of research, policy-making, and execution, the center will enable national testing and deployment of emerging technologies before linking them to the World Economic Forum’s global network.
The Abu Dhabi Advanced Technology Center will focus on key areas including quantum computing, robotics, payment systems, space technology, and AI-driven applications, further establishing Abu Dhabi as a hub for pioneering advanced technology research. This partnership integrates the Technology Innovation Institute into a connected global innovation ecosystem, accelerating responsible adoption of transformative technologies.
Dr. Najwa Al Araj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute, highlighted that the center provides a comprehensive platform combining research excellence, policy leadership, and international collaboration, broadening R&D horizons and transforming scientific discoveries into impactful real-world solutions.
With this announcement, Abu Dhabi officially joins the World Economic Forum’s Global Fourth Industrial Revolution Centers Network, alongside the US, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and India, reflecting the UAE’s position among leading nations shaping the future of technology.
Jeremy Jurgens, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, stated that Abu Dhabi’s inclusion strengthens the network’s ability to steer the global technology agenda and empowers various sectors to translate innovation into responsible, practical solutions that foster sustainability, inclusiveness, and trust in technology.
The center also aims to showcase Abu Dhabi’s thought leadership through pilot projects, regulatory sandboxes, and international forums, making it a strategic platform and a key driver in accelerating advanced technology adoption and reinforcing the UAE’s global presence in science and innovation.
